Who we are
THE COMMUNITY COUNCIL is made up of 12 volunteers who live or work in North Berwick.
What we do
The main purpose of the Community Council is to find out the views and wishes of the community and clearly express them to the Local Authority or other relevant organisations while taking a view on what is best for the community as a whole.
How we do it
We meet on the first Tuesday of every month at 7.30 in Community Centre, Law Road and consider a wide range of local matters which are brought to our attention from concerned local residents. Our members represent a cross section of the community and we maintain close links with the Police, East Lothian Council and other relevant bodies, as well as the 3 locally elected councillors who regularly attend our meetings.
Meetings are open to the public who are welcome to attend. Minutes are published on our webpage and on the town notice board in Law Road. We are statutory consultees on planning issues where we discuss proposals and correspond with planning officials/ Additionally we attend and speak at planning meetings as appropriate
We participate in several consultations every year ranging from area development plans to local parking issues.
We publish a variety of local news update 4 times a year in Connect Magazine for which contributions are always welcome
We administer the Stella Moffat Trust Fund and organise events which include, the annual putting competitions Remembrance Day Parade and the switch on of the Christmas lights.
